The year-long English IV course is designed to meet the requirements for the fourth credit of English necessary for graduation. English IV will provide students with instruction and practice leading to improvement and mastery of reading and writing skills. This course will expose students to various types of literature and to the rich traditions of authors from various eras and places. Additionally, English IV studies will increase and improve student vocabulary, will emphasize skills found on the ACT test, will allow students to use various methods of gathering and using information, will encourage students to discuss their own ideas and the ideas of others, and will afford many writing opportunities.
